Normally I wake up with only one thing on my mind. It’s this one thing that propels me to roll my half asleep body out of bed, stumble towards the kitchen at times walking into various walls. It’s this one thing that used to activate my day instantaneously but yet artificially. I am not going to lie, coffee has been my crutch for years and years. But no longer!
I have now reached day 4 of my 30-day Shakeology challenge. I promised myself to go Cold Turkey on coffee and energy drinks of any form or fashion. I’ll be honest, the first couple days I found myself in a mid afternoon crash. I would sit on the couch, lean my head back, and BAM, out like a blown bulb for a good hour or so.
Regardless, I have held fast and now 4 days in I can honestly say I am having no problems. I woke up this morning on day 4 with more energy than coffee ever artificially fed me. It’s been a long time since I burst out of bed with full motivation to start my day without that dark water rush!
I have been replacing my daily coffee with a much less harsh and much more natural Shakeology shake of various ingredients. So far, though only 4-days in, I feel a significant change. This I mostly contribute to my body normalizing without having to cope with an overload of caffeine, but also partly do to the enhanced nutrition I have been receiving from my daily shake.
Where will the next 26 days of Shakeology and no coffee take me?? At this point I can already tell, while I miss my coffee, my body does not.

- 2 TB Sunflower Butter
- 1 C Vanilla Soy Milk
- 1/3 Strawberry Low Fat Yogurt
- 1 Banana
- 6 Cubes of ice
